Giving

GivingAt Richmond Anglican Church we love welcoming new people to our church and do not expect anyone to give financially until they have become regular members.

For those that do wish to contribute financially to the work we do at our church, the ministry at Richmond Anglican and the missionaries we support financially rely on the generous giving of church members.

Jesus was God’s gift for all Christians, and is a symbol of God’s generosity that we have all experienced. Because of his grace, we live to serve Jesus as Lord of every facet of our lives, including the money we spend.

The Bible doesn’t tell us how much money to donate to what, or how we should give it. But in 2 Corinthians 9:7 it does say “Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.”

This verse suggests that we should all be cheerful givers to God’s cause. However, we need to be reminded that regardless of how much we give, it is why we give that counts. Jesus explicitly says this in Luke 11:42 “Woe to you Pharisees, because you give God a tenth of your mint, rue and all other kinds of garden herbs, but you neglect justice and the love of God. You should have practiced the latter without leaving the former undone.”

Richmond Anglican Church is a not-for-profit organisation governed by a council of our parishioners, and our financials are audited and prepared externally.

For those who do choose to freely and joyfully contribute to the ministry work that we do at Richmond Anglican, there are two streams that the money goes towards:

General ministry – covers all of the expenses of the church including bills, ministry staffing, resource materials, music licensing, office expenses, repairs and all other church costs.
Missionaries – Richmond Anglican supports multiple missionaries both in Australia and overseas. We encourage people to financially help them so they can continue to spread God’s word to those who need it. For more information on the missionaries we support, see our Missionaries page.
We encourage people to donate their money to whatever stream they see fit. The two methods of giving money to the church are through offertories at all Sunday Services, or through direct deposit giving.

For more information or if you wish to give to the church via direct debit and want the church’s bank details, see our page on Giving at Richmond Anglican.
