Anzac Day: Remember the Prince of Peace

Tomorrow our nation will pause to remember those who fought and gave their lives in defence of our country and freedom.  For many it’s a time for solemn reflection; for others, it’s another chance to enjoy a long weekend (and maybe a game of two-up).

However, with the war in Ukraine I suspect that this Anzac Day many people will be all the more conscious of the horror of war. We have lived for decades in relative peace and safety. And we may still for decades more, God willing. But this Anzac Day we are all too aware that peace is both fragile and precious.
So, as you remember Anzac Day tomorrow—and as you speak to others—remember the Prince of Peace, who will “make wars cease across the world” and who “breaks the bow and shatters the spear”.  We look forward to the Day when he returns and brings this peace to a world that desperately needs it.
